There are literally hundreds of thousands of colors, shapes, and designs available for diaper bags. A new mother can easily get overwhelmed with the variety that is available. Choosing a diaper bag is an extremely important decision since it will be the daily bag you use when you go out for the first year or two of your child's life. A diaper bag is more than just the fashionable handbag that ladies carry; it also must be a functional bag to meet the unique storage needs of new parents. Here are some popular styles of diaper bags and which might be the best fit with your lifestyle.
Pockets are a parent's best friend. Whatever bag you choose should have multiple pockets in various sizes. Insulated pockets for bottles can be a very nice additional benefit you might want to consider. Durability is another significant factor. Shoulder straps should be securely fastened to the bag and wide enough to be comfortable. Velcro, zippers, buttons, and snaps should all be checked to be sure they are secure, but be aware while more closures mean more security, it also can mean more delay in accessing the contents of the bag. Can the bag be easily cleaned? Babies can cause more messes than you would believe and a diaper bag that is stain-resistant and can be wiped clean can be a lifesaver.
One of the more inexpensive styles of diaper bags is backpacks. Portability is the biggest benefit here as backpacks free up your arms for other items or your baby while also preventing back strain. More masculine patterns, colors, and styles are commonly referred to as "daddy diaper bags". This is becoming a popular trend as dads are sharing more of the work of caring for babies. Perfect for either dad or mom, a messenger diaper bag is a great choice for active parents. Another style is the stroller diaper bag, which features looping straps that hang over a stroller's handles. Stroller diaper bags are very similar to messenger bags, with the defining difference being that a stroller diaper bag usually has pockets on the fold over flap. Both the stroller diaper bag and the messenger bag often boast pockets on either end.
